The "Keter Shem Tov" Conversion School
Tefillin consist of two main components:
Shel Rosh (Tefillin for the Head): A leather box containing four excerpts from the Torah, worn on the head.
Shel Yad (Tefillin for the Arm): A leather box containing one excerpt from the Torah, worn on the arm.
These two components symbolize the connection of mind and heart with God and serve as a daily reminder of our obligations to Him.
Historical and Religious Significance
The first stage of learning involves understanding the significance and history of tefillin, as well as the importance of fulfilling this mitzvah. This helps students better comprehend why wrapping tefillin is an integral part of Jewish life.
Technical Aspects of Wrapping Tefillin
We teach the correct technique for wrapping tefillin, including:
How to properly store and care for tefillin.
How to wrap tefillin on the arm (Shel Yad) and head (Shel Rosh).
The correct sequence of actions and the blessings recited while wrapping tefillin.
Practical Session
Practical sessions are a crucial part of the learning process. Our mentors conduct demonstrations and help students master the technique of wrapping tefillin, correcting mistakes and answering questions.
Daily Practice
We encourage the daily practice of wrapping tefillin, providing students with the opportunity to practice and receive feedback from our mentors. Regular practice helps solidify the skills and make the mitzvah a habitual part of the morning prayers.
Spiritual Mentorship
Wrapping tefillin is not just a technical process but also a profound spiritual experience. Our rabbis and mentors help students understand the spiritual significance of this mitzvah and integrate it into their daily lives.
