Learning to Wrap Tefillin at the "Keter Shem Tov" Conversion School

Wrapping tefillin is an important mitzvah observed by Jewish men every weekday. Tefillin are two leather boxes containing parchment scrolls with excerpts from the Torah, worn on the arm and the head during morning prayers. At the “Keter Shem Tov” Conversion School, we teach our students how to properly and meaningfully perform this mitzvah. These two components symbolize the connection of mind and heart with God and serve as a daily reminder of our obligations to Him.

What are Tefillin?

Tefillin consist of two main components:

Shel Rosh (Tefillin for the Head): A leather box containing four excerpts from the Torah, worn on the head.
Shel Yad (Tefillin for the Arm): A leather box containing one excerpt from the Torah, worn on the arm.

These two components symbolize the connection of mind and heart with God and serve as a daily reminder of our obligations to Him.
